You know, it’s actually a very reasonable antenna, why to work the rare ones, it should be up there 80 feet, I’m compromising here. I can’t put up my 50 foot tower with the stacked 40 meter antennas. You know, my neighbors might want to buy some tools and having a 30 foot bill board in the neighborhood might land me a few more sales. I can’t park my “Snap On Tool” truck in front of my house. You know, I might want to go somewhere and darn it, it’s my land. I can’t park my 40 Foot RV all the time in front of my house.

No one forces me to buy the house or gives me the money to buy it. I buy a house knowing that there are restrictions on what I can do on “My” property. Very best wishes, just my opinion, I am sure somewhere there are responsive HOA's governed by understanding state law with energetic management companies, I just haven't seen any, While I am not associated with the enterprise mentioned above, I would be thrilled if someone lowered the boom on this HOA excesses trend. HOA management companies, who work for the Board and perform all the day to day professional duties to implement the HOA operation, are generally inertial and dismissive of any attempts to make significant changes 'you can't get there from here' 'the legal costs are prohibitive' etc. While minor changes to the HOA agreements can be made by the Board, most significant ones are governed by state law so the HOA (which is usually broke) would have to pay an attorney to file legal papers and pursue a legal process to get a change ok'd by the state. You apparently live in a home not subject to HOA agreements, my sincere congratulations and best wishes. but it may cost a bit more and take more time to find. i'm confident that we'll find an acceptable property. but stealth antennas can bring up other problems as well (proximity to burglar/fire alarm systems, etc.), and i'd prefer to be legal. could i get away with a stealth antenna? sure! i have in our condo, and have enjoyed a modicum of DX success. as i told the XYL and our agent, i'm not looking to put up a tower w/a 21-element log periodic, but would like to have a decent VHF and HF vertical if i want. i'll tell you one thing: i'll *never* live in a condo-controlled complex again! sure, we've done well here (will walk away w/nearly $300K after five years of ownership), but the price in personal freedom is too high. i assume you're questioning the point of the article? if so, it looks like you agree w/N5IIT's point about the awful inertia required to change HOA usage/covenants. i was rather admant about a non-HOA property, and it looks like our agent is coming up with some possible listings. and yes, we bought our place BEFORE i became licensed. in a condo townhouse community - VERY restrictive rules.
